Te Raukura- the feathers of peace
The raukura became a symbol for the followers of Te Whiti and the people of Parihaka. It is three white feathers from the under wing of the albatross (toroa). In later years they were feathers from the goose. They are a symbol of peace and represent "the glory of God, peace on earth and goodwill to all mankind (people). Today, the raukura has become a symbol for most Taranaki iwi-especially Te Ati Awa.
He whaikororia ki te Atua i runga rawa
Glory to God on high
Glory to God on high
He maungarongo ki runga i te mata o te whenua
Peace on earth

He whakaaro pai ki te tangata
Goodwill to all mankind
